Thigh High Split

Thigh High Split Trend

Unless you've been living under a rock, you would have noticed that every A-lister from Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale, Jennifer Aniston to newer starlets like Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Nikki Reed and even punk girl Kristen Stewart have been flashing out their legs in thigh high split dresses – sexy, flirty, showing just the right amount of skin without looking tacky, this thigh high trend is one that we're in love with......

Style Icon: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley,

Who says you can't look classy and seductive at the same time? Take a cue from Hollywood's newest darling, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who is obviously a huge fan of this look! With the right styling and simple, understated accessories, Rosie manages to look stunning and seductive, whether it be cutout maxis, jersey dresses, or glittery numbers, she executes the trend perfectly without looking trashy!

Whilst we salute Rosie in her impeccable execution of the thigh-high slit trend, many other leading ladies have also tackled this look to make their pins appear endlessly long.

Celebrities love Thigh High

Kristen Stewart shows us that you can look edgy with a thigh high split maxi with the J. Mendel number she wore at the Breaking Dawn premiere, pairing the frock with tough looking peep toe pumps and sleek, combed hair. Meanwhile, Victoria's Secret Angel Miranda Kerr threw on a hot pink, body hugging dress with a sweetheart neckline paired with strappy, metallic heels and sexy, tousled curls.

And the rivalry between Angeline Jolie and Jennifer Aniston continues, and this time – with thigh-high split maxi dresses. Aniston wore an asymmetrical Valentino gown that showed off her sexy curves and killer gams that's clearly a product of years of yoga and exercise, pairing it with a casual bedhead look. On the other hand, Jolie wore a tea rose, Versace sheer dress with a slit-to-there split. Jolie kept her look classic with bold, red lips, matching pumps and an Old Hollywood sideswept hairstyle – a far cry from Aniston's carefree look.

Want to try the trend? Our general rule of thumb for donning the thigh high split is 'balance'. If you're flashing alot down below, keep it covered up top!

Here's some tips on how to rock this trend:

  • Avoid the double split – yes, they exist

  • Keep hair, makeup and accessories simple

  • Avoid gowns which go OTT on other elements (plunging necklines, excessive embellishments)

  • Don’t go too high. It’s called “thigh” high for a reason; you don’t want your lady bits to inadvertently be revealed whilst strutting your stuff.
